I think maybe I'm making a slow exit from LJ. In small steps. The current step is to cut the people who never, ever post from my flist. It feels icky, but I'm gonna. Also maybe folks who post once in a while but we don't seem to know each other at all. As usual, if you're actually bothered by the cut, I will of course add you back. Just let me know.

Believe it or not, I've done that a few times. I run a search for everyone on my list who's posted in the past six months and eliminate everyone who's left over, with a few exceptions of friends who created LJs for the express reason of reading my locked posts.

I think I just cut ten people who just never post. Theoretically the next step is cutting people wherein we never comment on each other's stuff, but I did a little bit of that before and one person said they read my stuff but weren't very commenty, so I felt like I had been mean somehow.

Maybe outside? I don't know. I can't quite express how ambivalent I am about blogging. I find it very sustaining and then on the other hand I think it's a crutch that keeps me from having a life. Historically I don't follow through on promises to cut down on LJ. I just have been feeling like in a lot of cases I don't really know people at all. People like you that I've talked to for years I do feel like I know, and it would be harder to leave and not read/be read by youse guys. I dunno. I'm turning 35 soon. Maybe it's a midlife crisis? :)

It's up to you. I can't actually tell from clicking on your journal whether you cut me or not? But basically I am phasing out LJ too. Anyway, you know my e-mail address if you want to keep in touch. And I more or less can't tolerate the indirect way of relating that LJ... is.

Thanks. As you can see, I'm on the fence. I think maybe constintina has the right idea with "just post every few weeks instead of every day." Mebbe.

I should do a before/after pics thing at some point as my monthly posting :) The place is shaping up. The main thing left to make it look individualized is paint, and I'm severely on the fence about it. I mean there's more furniture I'd like but $$$.
